About The Project
The cottage read as tired rather than old. Paint was powdering on the sunny elevation, and the shutters had swollen at the hinges.
The Project Challenge
Coating over soft timber would have looked well for a month. We scraped back to sound wood, repaired two sills, eased the shutters, and only then primed. Color was tested on the north wall and the west wall because they do not see the same sun.
The Result
The house is a warm cream with sage shutters and a door you can find from the lane. The repairs are invisible because they happened before the color. A short note lists the month to look at the sunny sills again.
