About The Project
The boxes of the kitchen were sound. The doors were dated, the counters were scarred, and the light stopped at the edge of the window. They asked for a reset that did not throw away a workable layout.
The Project Challenge
Keeping the boxes meant every new door had to fit openings that were slightly out of square. We measured each opening, built the schedule around a temporary pantry in the dining room, and templated the stone only after the new doors were hung so the splash would meet them.
The Result
The kitchen looks new without a new footprint. A pale counter, a handmade-look splash, and a continuous ribbon of task light changed the way the evening starts. They cooked in a makeshift corner for nine days and knew those days in advance.
- Existing boxes kept and re-doored
- Each opening measured, not assumed
- Stone templated after the doors were set
- A planned temporary pantry
